Whiteley Town Council serves the Winchester District area of Whiteley, maintaining Meadowside Recreation Ground and the numerous play areas.  The Town Council will also be managing the woodlands, sports pitches, allotments, play areas, open spaces and community centre in the new development in due course.

1st and 3rd Monday of the month

We are expecting the Hope & Clay (H&C) works along Whiteley Way to be completed by the end of August 2026. This is dependent on Utility Companies Scottish and Southern Electricity (SSE) and Southern Water (SW) works being complete before then. H&C has scaled back their work force to allow the utility companies to get their works scheduled in and this is why residents have not seen much activity over the last couple of months.

SSE is due to start laying cables the length of Whiteley Way on 10 June with works expected to be completed on 19 June. This will allow all the new street lighting to become live from R1(Main Roundabout) to R3(Roundabout by Petrol Station) and for power to be provided for the toucan crossing between Parkway and R2a (Roundabout by M &S) and the signals at Parkway junction.

During works undertaken by H&C at R2a  a water main was discovered, and SW have had to organise a diversion. Works to divert the water main and lay new pipes will take place at night between 6 July and 19 July. Once complete H&C will complete the surfacing, kerbs etc.

One of our residents, Mrs Margaret Twiggs, approached our ACSO Sarah with a suggestion for a Chatty Bench, we all thought it was a great idea and a plaque to identify the bench at Meadowside has been installed.

The Happy to Chat initiative is designed to help bring people together and tackle loneliness by encouraging friendly conversations between people in our community. The plaque lets people know that if you’re sitting on the bench, you’re happy to chat with others who may be passing by.

Sometimes a simple conversation can make a real difference. Whether it’s sharing a story, making a new connection, or simply brightening someone’s day, this bench is here to encourage kindness, friendship, and community spirit.

Road safety improvements are due to start around Cornerstone School in the very near future. Work to the path alongside the school is also starting soon. This will give families more choice in how they travel to school, making walking and cycling more attractive.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year’s assembly, the hall was full to bursting! Whiteley Primary, Cornerstone and Henry Cort sang, danced and played raising the roof with their performances. The applause for the performers was deafening, it was a great celebration of our community.

Alongside the expanding line-up of street food vendors, Louleighs Sweet Treats is extending its opening hours to include Sundays, making it even easier for families, walkers and visitors to stop by for refreshments. The popular coffee and sweet treat maker has also enhanced their offering with a selection of lower-cost tuck shop favourites, including chocolate bars, pre-packaged biscuits and grab-and-go snacks.

These additions make Louleighs Sweet Treats an ideal stop for those enjoying a walk around Whiteley, offering convenient refreshments and treats to take away while exploring the local area.

With a growing calendar of food events, an increasing number of independent vendors and a strong focus on supporting local businesses, Barn Farm is quickly establishing itself as a must-visit destination for food lovers in Whiteley and beyond.

A Whiteley Allotment Association has been established to allocate and manage the allotments.

There are four allotment sites planned for the new development; Allotment 1 has been handed over and the Allotment Association will begin allocating the plots soon.

Allotment 2 and Allotment 3 are expected to be completed this year and the Council has asked Vistry to allow access via a licence to occupy, ahead of the legal work to transfer the land.

Work on Allotment 4 is expected to begin this year.
