Allotments

A Whiteley Allotment Association is being established to allocate and manage the allotments.

There are four allotment sites planned for the new development; Allotment 1 has been handed over and the Allotment Association will begin allocating the plots soon.

Allotment 2 and Allotment 3 are expected to be completed this year and the Council has asked Vistry to allow access via a licence to occupy, ahead of the legal work to transfer the land.

Work on Allotment 4 is expected to begin this year.

Allotments 2,3 & 4 have community facilities: toilets, store and kitchen

You can view the locations of the four sites on this link

We are keeping a list of people interested in an allotment, if you would like to be added please use this link

When there is an update on the handover of the allotments we will arrange a meeting for those interested in setting up a management group.

What to look out for on your walks

May is a good month for seeing young birds that could look unfamiliar as they’ve yet to grow their full plumage.

Young robins are beautifully speckled as are song thrush.

Fledglings may seem to be at risk but the parents usually know what they’re doing and its always best to leave them to it!
